L's Maternity Session

Still obsessed with these images from this winter maternity session. I’ve had the pleasure of working with this couple since through their engagement, wedding and now as they’re getting ready to welcome their sweet baby girl into this world. I will never get over the fact that I have the honor of walking through life with so many amazing souls.

Enjoy scrolling through a few of my favorites from this maternity session.

Fresh 48

Fresh 48 will always and forever be my favorite. I love all other sessions, but there’s something so real and honest about Fresh48. Watching Mom’s and Dad’s fall in love with their new little, watching them learn how to hold and snuggle them - it’s honestly magical.

These two. You can almost feel their excitement and anticipation about meeting their new babe right through these images.

Also, props for bringing their sweet pup, Willow. To be fair, right after these adorable snaps, she took a deep dive into the lake at Boiling Springs - right in the section with all the green muck. Thankfully we had gotten plenty of images with her and her parents before this!! And we’ll always chuckle about that infamous moment.

Which reminds me:

PRO TIP: Please, please, please bring your animal friends to your photo session (unless your animal friend is a snake. Then please don’t. ;) ). You’ll be so, so happy to have images of them throughout the years. BUT!!! To make your session run smoothly, I always recommend bringing someone to be assigned to dog duty during your session. They’ll be able to keep your pup occupied while we do photos of you, while also being able to snap their leash off for a couple quick photos while you focus on following my prompts and being in the moment.

That’s it. That’s all.

Enjoy feeling all the feels while you browse through these images.

Documenting Life Stages

Documenting Life Stages

One of my favorite aspects of the job is getting to journey through life with some of my amazing clients. I can't count how many friends I've made through this job, and am honored every time I get to document each new stage in their lives.

This amazing girl was one of my first clients early on. After several mini-sessions with her and her amazing pup, I got the call that she was getting married. For their engagement session, they chose a location that was personal to them - a walking trail they had spent significant time on - and it served as the perfect back-drop for that session.

And then for their wedding.

And then for their next family session where they announced that they were growing their family of 3 by 2. :)

There's some magical about watching love blossom and families grow. But getting to do it in the same spot each time has been incredible.

And then I got to meet the sweet littles and - oh my heart - they are dear. Here's a few from their newborn session. Can't wait to share more moments with these two babes and their amazing family.

Baby J

Baby J

The longer I do photography, the more I adore sessions like these - capturing real moments. Getting to hear a big sister whisper, "welcome to our family, baby". Watching family take in every feature - each smile, dimple, patch of hair - for the first time. Seeing grandma's "ooo" and "aaah" over their newest grandbaby. Watching the way a beautiful mama gazes into her new baby's eyes, seemingly promising him all the love in the world. These are the moments that demand to be held still.

I've known this family for years - D and I went to high school together and I had the honor of doing him and E's engagement session, wedding and multiple family sessions! This week, they welcomed their third babe into the world, and I was lucky enough to be able to scoot over to the hospital to take some images of some of some of his first hours on earth. His family is absolutely smitten with him - he'll be one incredibly loved little man.

Welcome to the world, baby J.
